Top Elementary Science Fair Projects For Any Age
How about making a rocket model at the science fair? Kids find it very interesting to take part in competitions where they have to prepare science projects, especially if the project that involves something as exciting as making a steam powered boat or a rocket. While making elementary science fair projects, you are not supposed to know a great deal of advanced level science, hence your projects need not be investigative in nature. You do not have to do any detailed research work on your topic. What you need is interest and enthusiasm. There will be a lot of competition in the fair, where you have to come up with some really cool science project ideas. So have you thought of any?
Here you will find a few ideas on which you can prepare your project. Before we go on to the ideas you need to take certain things into consideration. Try to choose a topic that you can complete within a short span of time. Elementary science projects are simple. So look for a topic that is easy to approach and will take less time to complete say for instance, two days. Another important point you need to remember is the comment of the judges. The judges have a very sharp eye towards seeing whether the projects are done by students or their parents. If they somehow suspect that your parents have prepared the project instead of you, they might just disqualify you.
To avoid any such disappointing consequences, do the project yourself. You may need help from your parents or other adults occasionally but remember you are the one who has to do the job. A good way not to raise unnecessary suspicion of the judges is to say no, as far as possible, to a display or demonstration. It is not usually expected of elementary school students to give a demonstration of their science project in scientific terms. This also saves your time.
Instead of going for some complex display try to solve a problem or answer a question in your science fair project. Try to explain why chilling an onion before cutting it can help you not to cry. Or perhaps, in what ratio do you need to mix vinegar and baking soda so that you get a spectacular chemical volcanic eruption? Better still, try and explain how a solution that is saturated with common salt, sodium chloride, can still dissolve Epsom salts. What about explaining how magnetism effects plant growth? Have you tried to find out whether different kinds of soft drinks after being shaken will spew the same amount? There are so many interesting topics from which you can choose the one you want. You like chewing gums, find out whether all brands of bubble gum make bubbles of same size. Draw out a comparison between crystals grown from uniodized salt and those grown from iodized salt. Prepare an interesting chart explaining all the factors that affect the germination of seeds. You can enrich your projects with suitable illustrations. Do something that you will love and are interested in. A simple yet nicely worked out elementary science project will surely attract the judges at the fair. Wishing you the best for your next science fair project!
