All Science Fair Projects Are Not Boring

If you have been searching for some great science fair projects- here are some. However, just remember that these are just pointers, and you will need to a good amount of ground work and research before you can actually make a showcase project out of them. Also remember that these are only examples- there are plenty of other equally stimulating project ideas.

A home made steam powered boat:

All you need is a container that can float (a Pepsi can cut vertically, for example), a heating system (a candle!) and a copper tube that will act as the pressure tube. What you need to do is make an assembly where both the end of the tube is immersed in water, and the candle is used to heat the tube somewhere in the middle. As the candle heats the tube, steam gushes out, and in the process create a force that moves the assembly forward. Since both the ends are emerged in water, the vacuum created due to formation of steam sucks in the water, and hence you get a steady supply of water. Now, you can place the assembly in the can, and make the easiest and simplest steam powered boat.

A home made ice cream:

Getting an ice cream is easy- just run to the local store. How about making an ice cream without using any special freezers? Here is a way out. The basic principle behind this fun idea is simple- all you need to do is create a cooling system that melts at a temperature that is lower than water, and also lower that the temperature where the ice cream mixture solidifies. Simple ice cannot help you because while ice melts at zero degree and looses its capacity to cool other object further. So what you need to do is ensure that the 'ice' you are using to cool the liquid ice cream mixture melts at a temperature that is much below zero degree Celsius. How do you do this? Add some impurities to water, may be salt. When you freeze the salt water, it melts at a much lower temperature, and hence you can use it to 'freeze' the ice cream solution.

There are plenty of ideas like this. All you need to do is think and identify a captivating idea. Or perhaps, the better and easier way out. You can perhaps talk to your Science faculty and ask for suggestions. You can even check out the Internet and search for all science fair projects. Study them, and try and find out which one interests you the most. Once you have loved an idea, go ahead and build that impressive project for your school science fair.
